Preliminary hotel figures for January 2007 has shown that the market in Swindon continues to thrive.

According to the latest information from PKF hotel consultancy services, Swindon posted one of the strongest sets of figures across the UK continuing the excellent growth from 2006.

The latest set of figures show that in comparison to January 2006 occupancy levels, average room rate and rooms yield were all up posting increases of 8.3 per cent, 5.0 per cent and 13.7 per cent respectively.

Nick Buxton, partner at PKF said: "It is very encouraging to see the Swindon hotel market performing so strongly after such a good 2006 and especially at a time when three recent interest rate rises have made their mark on the economy.

"January is also a time of year which is not renowned for growth, so with the rest of 2007 in front of us, it is very encouraging to see such a positive start. It is testament to the fact that Swindon has become an increasingly desirable location for people to visit."
