Swindon hoteliers enjoyed a healthy October with increases in occupancy levels, rooms yield and average room rates.

According to the latest information from PKF Hotel Consultancy Services, figures for October 2007 showed that occupancy levels were up 6.2 per cent in comparison to the same period last year. This reverses the slight drop experienced in September.

In addition, average daily room rates were up 8.4 per cent as well as rooms yield which enjoyed a healthy rise of 15.1 per cent from £42.31 to £48.71.

Nick Buxton, partner at PKF said: “This is great news for the Swindon hotel sector.  The drop in occupancy during the summer was countered by a rise in room rates and while room rates have driven a lot of the growth in the last few months, it is good to see occupancy levels back up in October.”
