Wiltshire-based supplier of software systems, SciSys has announced the signing of a contract worth more than £5m with Arqiva to assist in its extensive lead role in the UK's digital switch over project (DSO).

Arqiva provides much of the infrastructure behind the broadcast of television, radio and wireless communications in the UK and SciSys has been commissioned to deliver a high availability, high resiliency network monitoring solution as part of the DSO project.

The system will provide live network management, real-time fault analysis and automated evaluation of the service level impact of faults in support Arqiva's fault resolution decision process.

The award of the contract recognises SciSys expertise in telemetry based systems. The companies have worked together on analogue systems for many years. The project will continue until the UK's final television region switch over which is due to occur in 2012 is achieved. The contract also makes provision for Arqiva to engage SciSys for ongoing support services for the duration of the expected in service life of the digital system infrastructure.

Mike Love executive chairman of SciSys said: “We are delighted to win this contract from a substantial and important UK technology customer, who we value very highly.

“It utilises SciSys’ niche skills which we hope we can use with Arqiva in future projects worldwide. It also fits very well with our growing focus on media and broadcast business opportunities in line with our recent acquisition of VCS AG in Germany announced in September.”
