Highcross has acquired BSS House at Swindon’s Cheney Manor Industrial Estate in an off-market deal introduced by agents, Steadman Brierley. The 72,500 sq ft development has been acquired by Highcross for its subsidiary, Bizspace, which is one of the UK’s largest providers of flexible managed workspace.

Formerly owned by the Hampton Trust, the 1970s former factory includes 81 light industrial business units of varying sizes ranging from 450 sq ft – 5,850 sq ft. In addition, a two-storey office building attached to the front of the property, provides a further 17 individual office suites ranging from 150 sq ft – 670 sq ft.

The £4.75m acquisition will be Bizspace’s first scheme in the town. Located in an established industrial area, with easy access to the M4, the development is currently 82 per cent occupied.

Richard Pellatt of Highcross commented: “During the past year, we have increased the Bizspace portfolio by over 50 per cent and now have nearly 100 managed centres across the country, providing a range of flexible office, studio and workshop accommodation, as well as storage facilities. This deal marks our first acquisition in this area and we are actively looking for other similar investment opportunities.”
