Last chance for entries for Swindon’s ‘Quality of Life’ Awards Archive index | Front page

Time is running out for community groups, schools and local businesses throughout Swindon to enter the 2007 Quality of Life Awards and the chance to win up to £500. Closing date for entries is Tuesday, 27 February 2007.

The awards event is organised annually by Swindon Borough Council’s Sustainable Development team, and is split into three categories - schools, community groups and local businesses. More than 30 applications were received for last year's competition. This year the judges will be looking for projects that enhance, improve, and encourage environmental action and/or the quality of life in Swindon.

David Wren, one of the judges and Swindon Borough Council Cabinet Member for the Local Environment said: “These awards are a fantastic way to promote and recognise the valuable work being carried out by local projects in the area. We all have a role to play in making our environment a better place to live and these projects can provide the inspiration we need to make practical action a reality.”

Only information submitted on the Quality of Life application form will be considered. Application forms can be obtained from the Sustainable Development Team on 01793 463197, or copies are downloadable from the Swindon Borough Council website. Hard copies are also available at the reception areas at Swindon Borough Council's Civic and Wat Tyler offices.

The event is sponsored by Nationwide Building Society and Lets Do Lunch.
