The innovative Train to Gain service puts employers in the driving seat by giving them access to a free Skills Broker service, offering independent and practical advice to match the training needs of the workforce with high quality training .
Since its launch in April 2006 Train to Gain has helped 977 employees in Swindon and Wiltshire gain access to high quality training adapted to the needs of their job and future career..
Now LSC South West hopes that its new ‘Get the Edge’ campaign, featuring advertisements, email broadcasts, mail shots to businesses and telemarketing, will see a record take up of the service by employers.
Chris Minett, Skills Development Director for Train to Gain said, “Train to Gain is already proving to be a success story in Somerset but there are many more employers and employees who could reap tangible benefits from this unique service.
“It’s a proven fact that the best performing businesses invest in training. Where Train to Gain can prove invaluable is in helping businesses and employees invest in the right training to achieve increased returns and greater commercial success.
“With the help of the ‘Get the Edge’ campaign we hope to significantly raise the service’s profile amongst the regional business community.”
Train to Gain is delivered by a network of accredited skills brokers operating throughout the South West who can arrange appointments at a time and place to suit the businesses. The advice offered is free, independent and impartial with flexible, work based training on offer from a wide range of training providers.
