Potential members keen to sign up before new David Lloyd Leisure club is completed Archive index | Front page

David Lloyd Leisure, which will open its latest sports, health and leisure club in Swindon later this year, has had over 500 enquiries from would-be members before it has even launched its advertising campaign.

The company, which is owned by Whitbread, has 59 clubs across the UK. The new Swindon club will be sited adjacent to the A419 and Motorola on Groundwell Farm, North Swindon.

Currently under construction, the new club will be the largest private sports, health and leisure facility in the area at 135,000 sq ft. Facilities will include an indoor and outdoor swimming pool, indoor and outdoor multi-surface tennis courts, a fully equipped gymnasium with machines and equipment, three fitness studios which will offer exercise classes, and spa facilities with jacuzzi, steam and sauna.

Jacqui Wilson, general manager of David Lloyd Leisure Swindon said: "We believe our offering will be second to none in the area. David Lloyd Leisure is very proud of its links with its local communities, the after-sales care we provide for our members to ensure that they meet their fitness goals and the facilities we have in place to be able to keep the whole family fit and happy.

"Various people in the business community, as well as members of the public, are telling us that they see the fact that David Lloyd Leisure has chosen to open one of its clubs in Swindon as a vote of confidence in the town. The wide-ranging brief we have been given is very exciting and we are sure that David Lloyd Leisure's arrival will give a welcome boost to fitness facilities in the area."
